about

Hi, I’m Jess!

I am a one woman pottery operation based out of my garage studio in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. I make high quality, colorful wares that are meant to elicit joy. Pottery is art that gets to take an active role in the users daily lives and I think that is really special.

I’m originally from Illinois and in 2012 I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. After college, I made my way to St. Petersburg, Fl where I was a Resident Artist at the Morean Center for Clay for two years. From there, I packed it up and headed west to work under Forrest Middelton in Petaluma, Ca.

I have been in California for more than 8 years now. I was raised amongst the cornfields and remain a true Midwesterner in spirit. While potatoes and corn on the cob may be among my favorite foods, California has most certainly stolen the other half of my heart. I’m grateful to call San Diego home and I think my art has been heavily influenced and inspired by my time in Southern California.

I like to ride my bike (whom I have affectionately dubbed Billy Crystal), I go camping as often I a can, I love good food and am a sucker for a good dirty gin martini. I think my dog is cooler than most people and I have probably seen far too many episodes of Seinfeld. If you have questions about my work or process or life, etc., please reach out. I would love to hear from you.
